New Staff and Chief Medical Officer Role Strengthen
Western Missouri Medical Center's Mission to Support Community

Warrensburg, MO - Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is pleased to announce that Michael C. Misko, MD, FAAFP, FAEP, has been named Vice President of Medical Staff Services/Chief Medical Officer. In addition, WMMC is pleased to welcome Vanessa J. Petrizzi as Director of Marketing/Community Relations and Elizabeth L. Everts as Medical Staff Recruitment Coordinator.

As the Vice President of Medical Staff Services/Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Michael Misko will be creating an effective team that enhances the development of WMMC's medical staff through recruitment, improved clinical performance, team building and management of providers. In this role, Dr. Misko will provide leadership and expertise for hospital quality and clinical effectiveness. This is the first time in the history of WMMC that a member of the medical staff will serve on the Administrative Team, actively participating in the day-to-day management of the Medical Center. For the past several years, Dr. Misko served as Medical Director of the Emergency Department and Chief of Emergency Services at WMMC and will continue in that role until May of this year.

Dr. Misko has over 20 years of experience in clinical practice. He served in the US Air Force during his residency and for several years following. In addition to his full-time clinical duties, Dr. Misko has held numerous leadership roles including Chief of Family Practice and Chief of the Immediate Disaster Preparedness Team at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, MO; Chief of Family Practice and Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department at FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY; and served as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine and Chairman of the Credentials Committee at Lee's Summit Hospital.

"I am truly excited about all of the positive changes taking place at WMMC," says Dr. Michael Misko. "Each step we take enables us to further improve the quality of care we provide and expand the services available in our community."

WMMC recently welcomed Vanessa Petrizzi as the Director of Marketing and Community Relations. Vanessa's responsibilities include planning, developing and implementing all of WMMC's marketing and communication strategies, as well as public relations activities. She also directs the efforts of the customer service, volunteer services, education, and wellness programs. Vanessa has worked in the marketing/communications field for several organizations including Metropolitan Jewish Health System in Brooklyn, NY, DMJM Harris in New York, NY, and most recently the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri in Sedalia, MO. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA.

Elizabeth Everts also joined WMMC as the Medical Staff Recruitment Coordinator. Beth will be responsible for physician recruitment and retention. Beth has over 20 years of experience in the recruiting field. She has worked in the St. Louis, MO, area for organizations such as St. Louis Children's Hospital-BJC Healthcare, Inpatient Management Inc., Christian Health System-Christian Hospital NE/NW, and Saxon and Cummins Executive Search Firm. Beth graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
