Senior Behavioral Health

Western Missouri Medical Center's (WMMC) 12-bed, secure, acute care senior adult unit provides special behavioral and psychiatric needs of those adults 65 years old and beyond. The primary goals of the unit are twofold; to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and to teach seniors (and their families/caregivers) how to cope with the behavioral changes that may occur throughout the aging process.

Senior adults can often suffer from increased depression, grief over a loss, anxiety, changes in memory, appetite loss and combative/aggressive behaviors. Consequently, special care is taken to meet their unique emotional needs and to assure their safety and well-being while hospitalized.

Bridges Senior Behavioral Health is designed to treat seniors who suffer from less debilitating affective disorders such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder, as well as those who suffer from organic or chronic mental illness, dementia and may have associated medical complications.

Visitation for Bridges Senior Behavioral Health is DAILY: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
